On 23 May 2016, Grandall Law Firm (Madrid) (“Grandall Madrid”) entered into a reorganization agreement with Colon de Carvajal Abogados in Madrid, marking the successful reorganization of Colon de Carvajal Abogados by Grandall Madrid.  With SUN Guoqiang, managing partner of Grandall Madrid, and Alfredo, founding partner of Colon de Carvajal Abogados, signing on the reorganization agreement, this reorganization marked a solid foundation of Grandall Madrid in the Spanish legal market, representing a new development stage and further expanded the influence of Grandall to Spain and the Europe.

After the reorganization, Grandall Madrid and Colon de Carvajal Abogados will adopt the integrated management, with Grandall Madrid as the external operator and Colon de Carvajal Abogados remaining as the operator for its former clients. However, all the business contracts concerning China must be entered into in the name of Grandall Madrid.  The new managing organization, a managing committee made up of 3 partners, has also been elected on the partner conference, with Alfredo as the chief executive, and SUN Guoqiang and ZHANG Zhengweiming as executives.

This reorganization has become a heated topic in the Spanish lawyer circle and enterprise circle. Boasting a history of over 30 years, Colon de Carvajal Abogados has been a major member among the European and American Lawyer Union (ELN) and enjoyed a high reputation as a middle-sized comprehensive law firm whose headquarter locates at the financial center in Madrid accompanied with three branches in Valencia, Malaga, and Viggo.  It also has a Chinese Affairs Department, especially dealing with the services for Chinese clients and investment in China.  LEI Jie, partner from Colon de Carvajal Abogados, has spoken highly of the great influence of Grandall in Europe and the whole globe, and has seen a promising future in the development of Grandall Madrid.  He also believed the brand and resource advantage of Grandall will be fully used to extend the Chinese market and integrate all the businesses after Colon de Carvajal Abogados joining Grandall Madrid, realizing an extraordinary development of Chinese businesses.

SUN Guoqiang has also seen an optimistic future on Chinese economic and trading cooperation with Spain for the great potential in Spanish legal services.
